Formed by producing partners Michele Bauer and Cameron Lukey, Left Bauer Productions presents popular and original theatrical works that are daring but accessible, relevant regardless of subject, and just a little left of centre.
Bauer and Lukey’s collaboration began with Playing Rock Hudson in 2013, a new Australian play exploring the life and legacy of a Hollywood Icon. Now, Left Bauer presents depictions of two strikingly different icons. In Terrence McNally’s Tony Award winning play Master Class, Music Theatre star Maria Mercedes (Sunset Boulevard & Love Never Dies) portrays La Divina, Maria Callas. And from a play inspired by an operatic legend to an opera about a ground breaking activist (and avid Maria Callas fan), Left Bauer is proud to present the Australian premiere of Stewart Wallace and Michael Korie’s opera Harvey Milk.
As reflected in our programming, Left Bauer is committed to executing all productions with environmentally, financially, socially and culturally responsible practices.
