Cameron Lukey graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Honours) in 2009. From 2007-13, Cameron performed as a principal artist for Oz Opera and Lyric Opera of Melbourne, and chorister for Alexander Productions and Opera Australia. Recently, he was engaged as an Orchestra Manager for Victorian Opera and as the General Manager of Lyric Opera.
Cameron’s first play Playing Rock Hudson premiered at the Coopers Malthouse Theatre in 2013, co-produced by Michele Bauer and supported by the Victorian AIDS Council. This was followed by a season at Sydney’s Old Fitz Theatre in 2015. In 2014, Cameron and Michele co-founded Left Bauer Productions and presented a Green Room Award winning production of Terrence McNally’s Master Class at Melbourne’s fortyfivedownstairs, Sydney’s Hayes Theatre and several theatres across Victoria. This was followed by the acclaimed Australian premiere of Harvey Milk – The Opera in Concert (which Cameron also directed) at the St Kilda and Sydney Town Halls.
Last year Cameron joined the team at fortyfivedownstairs as their Development Manager and Executive Producer. Productions with fortyfive include Patricia Cornelius’ SHIT, Marguerite Duras’ L’amante anglaise and Chris Ioan Roberts’ Dead Royal. Cameron also presented a Green Room nominated Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra tour of Tim Fountain’s Resident Alien, starring Paul Capsis.
