A graduate of WAAPA and ‘A Glittery Tapping Wonderland’, Tyran has worked on over 50 professional productions as an actor, director and writer. Highlights include The Sound of Music, Oliver!, Eurobeat, Assassins, Evita, Sunset Blvd, South Pacific, Mack and Mabel, Anything Goes, Jekyll and Hyde, Angels in America, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Comedy of Errors, The Tempest, Tick Tick Boom!, Twelfth Night, The Last Five Years, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing, Cabaret, In a Pink Tutu, Life Force, Rent, Sydney is a Dirty Whore with No Attributes Other Than What God Gave, Putting it Together, She Loves Me and George in Sunday in the Park with George.
His debut CD, SUNDAY IN THE PARKE received rave reviews and his latest, Compositions, A Musical Close Up, features some of the world’s best composers who each chose an image from his photographer brother Trent Parke’s celebrated work, and composed a song in response. The collection has received great acclaim both as a recording and in its recent concert performance for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, and is available through his website. In 2015 it will be seen at The Hayes Theatre, Sydney.
Tyran studied Cabaret at Yale University and has travelled internationally with his award winning shows, most recently playing a sold out season at New York’s ‘Don’t Tell Mama’s’. Earlier this year Tyran was commissioned to write a new show for the Art Gallery of NSW. The result, Children and Art premiered to huge acclaim in May.
In addition to Children and Art, 2014 has seen Tyran direct Pool (No Water), Our House, a Victorian tour of Assassins and appeared in Sport For Jove’s Twelfth Night, Lovebites at the Hayes Theatre as well the New York premiere of his one man show, A Light in the Dark.
He is a proud member of equity and thrilled to work on this exciting new Australian play.
